Improving quality in prescribing

The National Prescribing Centre (NPC) has produced a single competency framework for all prescribers, medical and non-medical (nurses) which is designed to enable practitioners to continually improve their performance and work more effectively.

The framework can be used in clinical governance to facilitate systems to promote best practice, provide relevant training and develop appropriate audit tools.
