MHRA Metoclopramide Safety Recommendations
Metoclopramide (Maxolon®) used to treat nausea and vomiting.
The MHRA recommends that indications for use should be restricted due to the risk of neurological side-effects, particularly in children and adolescents, those with higher doses or with long term treatment.
The maximum treatment period should be 5 days for all patients. For children aged 1-18 years, prescribing is restricted to nausea and vomiting induced by chemotherapy, or post-operatively.
