Changes to Controlled Drugs Regulations
Some changes in the regulation of Tramadol, Lisdexamfetamine, Zaleplon and Zopiclone came into force on 10th June 2014.
- Lisdexamfetamine has become a schedule 2 controlled drug
- Tramadol has become a schedule 3 controlled drug, but is exempt from Safe Custody Regulations
- Zaleplon & Zopiclone will become schedule 4 (part 1) controlled drugs
Many healthcare providers have decided to treat tramadol as a schedule 2 CD by storing it in the CD cupboard and keeping stock in the CD register.
