NHSE Patient Choice in Mental Health Care

 In NHS Guidelines, NHSE Guidance

Legal rights to choice have been introduced in mental health as part of the drive to achieve parity with physical health. The legal rights cover:

  • Choice of mental healthcare provider
  • Choice of mental healthcare team

NHS England undertook an extensive consultation period when developing the guidance and both the guidance and clinical scenarios have been shaped with inputfrom a range of healthcare professionals, representative bodies and partner organisations.

This guidance replaces the interim guidance published in May 2014.
