NG100 Rheumatoid arthritis in adults: management

This NICE guideline was updated in October 2020 and covers the diagnosis and management of rheumatoid arthritis. It aims to improve quality of life of patients with rheumatoid arthritis by making sure they have access to the right treatment to slow the progression of their condition and control their symptoms. It makes 10 recommendations:

  • Referral, diagnosis and investigations
  • Treat-to-target strategy
  • Communication and education
  • Initial pharmacological management
  • Further pharmacological management
  • Symptom control
  • The multidisciplinary team
  • Non-pharmacological management
  • Monitoring
  • Timing and referral for surgery
