QS29 Venous thromboembolism in adults: diagnosis and management

This NICE quality standard was updated in January 2021 and covers the diagnosis and treatment of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in adults. It makes nine quality statements:

  • Interim therapeutic dose of anticoagulation therapy for suspected deep vein thrombosis
  • Diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis
  • Interim therapeutic dose of anticoagulation therapy for suspected pulmonary embolism
  • Mechanical interventions
  • Investigations for cancer
  • Thrombophilia testing
  • Treatment of people with active cancer
  • Follow‑up for people without cancer
  • Follow‑up for people with cancer
