Learning disabilities: identifying and managing mental health problems (QS142)

This NICE quality standard was published in January 2017 and covers the prevention, assessment and management of mental health problems in people with learning disabilities in all care settings.

This quality standard focuses on high-quality care improvements that are a priority. Challenging behaviour is not covered in this quality standard; it is in QS101 (Learning disabilities: challenging behaviour).

The following five NICE quality statements for QS142 look at:

  • Annual health check
  • Assessment by professional with relevant expertise
  • Key worker
  • Tailoring psychological interventions
  • Annually documenting the reasons for continued antipsychotic drugs
